A hybrid heating system that combines the best of both worlds: an efficient 16 kw Grant heat pump working alongside a modern Grant condensing oil boiler.
When we were asked to upgrade the heating in this stunning converted school, we knew a standard solution wouldn’t be enough. The building needed more power than a single heat pump could provide, and with only single-phase electrics on site, we had to get creative.
The answer was a hybrid heating system that combines the best of both worlds: an efficient 16 kw Grant heat pump working alongside a modern Grant condensing oil boiler. The heat pump looks after the home’s hot water all year round and delivers most of the heating (down to 4°C), while the boiler only steps in when it’s really needed. This means lower running costs, reduced oil use, and reliable comfort whatever the weather.

We also installed a 400-litre pressurised hot water cylinder to make sure there’s always plenty of hot water on hand, even at the busiest times creating a hybrid heating system for a Unique Home. With cosy underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators upstairs, every corner of the home stays warm and welcoming.
To give complete peace of mind, we added the brand-new Grant EvoLink Hybrid Hub. Being one of the first in the UK to install this clever system which constantly monitors performance, making automatic adjustments so the heat pump does as much of the work as possible. It even shows how much of the heating is covered by the pump versus the boiler, giving full visibility and control.
The result is a comfortable, efficient, and future-ready heating system, built to suit the character of this beautiful property while keeping energy use smart and sustainable.
